Disinfection & Workout

Well, we already know what being a gym freak entails! However, it has become much more than that in the present times. The times when all the gyms were once completely closed, making it a nightmare for our gym rats; the situation is eventually stabilizing, bringing back our regular routines to us.

Nonetheless, it is on us to keep the stabilizing graph on a high rise or a down low. Our combined and persistent efforts would, to a great extent, determine the continuation of gyms or reverting to extreme lockdown situations.

Needless to say, the gym owners stand on the peak of responsibility of ensuring a sanitized and disinfected gym for their customers. Cleaning, sanitization, and disinfection of each gym equipment and every nook and corner of the gym, including the restrooms and changing rooms, are required to be done on a daily basis.

Now comes the accountability of our gymers towards their health and hygiene while maintaining physical fitness.

  • Equipment Use: A gym is a public place used by many. A lot of people touch the equipments and adorn them by their sweat. Using the same thing again could be infectious. Hence, it is advisable for our gym bunnies to carry a handy bottle of disinfectant and spray on the equipments before and after use. These should specifically cover the frequently touched points. Exercise on a sanitized equipment and leave the same for the next user!
  • Gym Bag: Carry every required thing from home. This would include clothes, separate bathing and hand towels, sanitizer, mask, and hand gloves, among other things. Make sure to carry a hand towel along to the gym. You may also wear hand gloves while exercising (if comfortable).
  • Sanitizing: Always carry a sanitizer bottle inside the gym. While it will cover the disinfection of equipment (discussed earlier), it is also required to sanitize your hands frequently. You may accidentally rub your eyes and face with your sweaty and dirty hands while in the gym. Hence, it is better to habituate the practice of sanitizer use.
  • Use of restrooms and changing rooms: It is common to use changing rooms, locker rooms, toilets, bathrooms, etc., before, during, or after using the gym. This is something unavoidable. Therefore, it is this time you should take utmost care of your hygiene, especially after using the restrooms.
  • Gym timings: This is another important aspect we might miss. Call your gym reception to confirm their timings, and try to opt for one that would be considerably less crowded. We understand this is something you can’t always achieve, but still worth a try! When in the gym, be flexible – go for the equipments that are less crowded first and wait for the queue to settle for others.

Disinfection and gyming are both vital for one’s health and should go hand-in-hand.
