Maskne is real!
As if acne wasn’t enough!
Maskne (mask+acne) is a skin condition one might develop as a result of wearing masks. Well, wearing a mask while leaving home has become as essential for us as wearing clothes or carrying a wallet (probably) since the outbreak of COVID-19.
While masks undoubtedly became our saviors, wearing them continuously, especially during summers, is confining. The covered part of the face (nose, chin, and cheeks) tends to develop pimples and other forms of acne due to excess sweat. As studied and explained by dermatologists, the mask’s friction blocks skin’s pores resulting in blackheads or whiteheads. Along with sweat, there’s also a humid environment created while we breathe or speak with our masks on. All this provides a breeding ground for acne to thrive. Such developments on your face can cause uneasiness, irritation, redness, rashes, and other forms of skin problems. These may range from contact dermatitis, rosacea, folliculitis to acne mechania.
Howsoever, if there’s a problem, a solution possibly follows.
How to prevent Maskne?
- For the most part, the type of mask you use determines the solution. If it is disposable, replace it regularly; if it is cotton, wash it daily.
- Wash your face with cold water regularly. If you use a face wash, try using an oil-free one.
- Maskne can cause irritation and an urge to rub your skin rigorously. However, doing so will only worsen the situation, hence try avoiding it.
- If you are outside, but at a place away from other people or while driving alone, then you may take your mask off for a while to give yourself a breather.
- Disinfecting your mask regularly helps during this situation. Sterloc is one such disinfectant that can be safely used to sanitize and cool off your mask.
- It can be carried along in handy bottles wherever you go.
- You may immediately re-wear the mask after applying Sterloc, as the disinfectant is alcohol-free. It has a water-like feel (that dries up quickly) and produces no such odor that can trouble you.
- Sterloc is also free from chemicals and toxic substances, thereby making it safe to take it near your face and mouth.
- The all-natural solution helps you get back the natural look of your face.
Wearing masks is the new normal, however, let’s not make Maskne a part of it. #GetSterlocked to fight and break the maskne breakouts.
