#SunshineOfSafety
“Be the Sunshine of Safety” has been trending recently following a little ‘tweet conversation’ between the Mumbai Police and a fan. It started with a message from Mumbai Police, known for its amusing social media posts, urging the people to stay indoors in the wake of Covid-19. The tweet from Mumbai Commissioner of Police read, “It’s a Hot Sunny Sunday. A Perfect Climate to Remain Indoors. #StayIndoors #TakingOnCorona.” Taking a jab, a man named Sunny Pandey replied, “Sir, my name is Sunny. Can I go outside?”; to which the Mumbai Police responded, “Sir, if you are truly that star at the center of the solar system, around which Earth & the other components of solar system revolve, we hope you realize the responsibility you are shouldering! Don’t compromise it by exposing yourself to the virus please! Be the #SunshineOfSafety.”
Both the hashtag and underlying message caught my attention. Being sunshine of safety in itself seems like a bright and positive feeling. Keep yourself safe and encourage others to follow in your footsteps! Mumbai Police tried to communicate a similar thought. There is no personal gain for others who are advising us to stay indoors. All this has come as an inescapable change in our lives, and it is for us to accept it instinctively. The more we oppose it, the harder it becomes, leading to some dreadful consequences. The fight is required, but against the disease, not against the precautions we ought to follow for our safety. Hence, let’s pull our socks up, understand the gravity of the situation, and do (or not do) everything we can to save ourselves, our loved ones, and our nation! It is the time to be physically distant but emotionally together.
Let’s all be the #SunshineOfSafety
