Hand Sanitizer

Why Should You Not Have A Hand Sanitizer With Fragrance & Dye?

Generally, we think all humans love fragrances, but that’s not true. Soothing fragrances are so good, but not every time. Maybe they are good if found in perfumes, but what about sanitizers? Do you believe a sanitizer reeking fragrance is safe and suitable?

Fragrance in a sanitizer is safe or not; that is a part of scientific research. But, indeed, all humans are not comfortable with aromas. Whether you are comfortable with the fragrance or not, there are some reasons why you shouldn’t have a hand sanitizer with scent.

A sanitizer’s fragrance and color are also serious points to discuss. Here we will talk about why you shouldn’t choose a hand sanitizer spray bottle full of fragrances and colors. This post is not about the side effects of hand sanitizer. It is all about the disadvantages of hand sanitizer that only come from added fragrance and dye.

Fragrance Sensitivity

Fragrance sensitivity is one of the significant reasons behind declining the usage of scented hand sanitizer. Might you think that fragrance sensitivity? Do people fact this issue? According to some studies, this health issue is prevalent in countries like America.

Due to scented hand sanitizer, people with fragrance sensitivity might face several health issues. Common problems are headaches, shortness of breath, stomachaches, and watery eyes. Sometimes this sensitivity can cause malaise-like problems too.

Dries Out Skin

Authorities recommend using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, but it dries the skin. Do you know the consequences of having dry skin? It is more prone to infections. Before putting more alcohol-based sanitizer on your skin, you should understand what dermatology says about it.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD), sanitizers are already filled with a potent drying agent known as alcohol. It quickly dries out the skin. And adding fragrance and dye makes it worst in case of skin dryness.

(There are some recommendations by ADA regarding this. Discolored and non-fragrance sanitizer is the best. ADA recommends Dye-free and fragrance-free sanitizer. )

Undisclosed

As there are fragrance-sensitive people, there are a lot of fragrance lovers too. They might come up with the idea that all fragrances are not harmful. Yes, they are right. But what if you are unable to differentiate between good and bad fragrances?

The same is the case with hand sanitizers. Most hand sanitizer spray bottles don’t have fragrance elements disclosed on the labels. Due to this undisclosed fragrance, you cannot figure out whether it is good or bad.

Artificial Dyes

Artificial colors added in the preparation of hand sanitizers have a similar story. They are also added to make a sanitizer look good, but they cause harm too. Allergic reactions are the most common issues that people might face due to artificial dyes.

Why do Companies add Scents To Sanitizers?

They add scents to target a large group of people that love fragrances. To convert them into customers, companies keep on putting bouquets into sanitizers. But the adverse effects of these scents are never discussed that much.

After the sanitizer became a frequently used product, people started complaining about the foul smell due to alcohol as the primary ingredient. Buying an alcohol-based sanitizer without scent may be challenging. But why not try a non-alcoholic hand sanitizer without smell.

The Simple Solution!

No alcohol means no foul odor, which means no additional scent is required. It’s that simple! Alcohol-free sanitizer with no fragrances and dye will be the best option.
